Profile

The largely industrial precinct of Molendinar may not have been an investor's dream several years ago, but significant changes to the suburb have contributed to a new and improved image for the area. Close to Griffith University, major roads and the Southport business district, Molendinar has a lot of potential. It is centrally located and offers easy access to some of the Coast's most pretigious private schools, including The Southport School (4.8km east), St Hilda's (4.6km east), and Trinity Lutheran College (1.1km north-west).

Within Molendinar, there are three main residential pockets: Crestwood Heights which features newer homes; Bishops Wood with older homes; and Silver Bridle which has historically been associated with Housing Commission. Its affordability in comparison to other Gold Coast suburbs has seen more and more tenants in the area buy property, as well as attracting first home buyers to the area. This has led to a wave of renovations, including upgrading of Housing Commission properties which have been sold off.

Crestwood Heights is a relatively new development which has proven popular with first homebuyers who have seen their investments rise in price over the years. The suburb features extensive bikeways and cul-de-sac home sites, and is only a few minutes from Main Beach, the Southport CBD, and Griffith University. More than nine hectares of parkland have been incorporated into the Crestwood Heights development, adding to its appeal to families.

The Molendinar Industrial Estate, located west of Southport, offers substantial production, warehousing and storage facilities. It is also home to The Gold Coast Bulletin. The Pacific Motorway is nearby, as are both Nerang and Helensvale train stations. Four shopping centres are also close by, with Ashmore Shopping Centre only a short walk away.
