Profile

Straddling the Pacific Motorway, the northern Gold Coast suburb of Ormeau is well known for its sprawling homes and beautiful countryside. In keeping with the surroundings, developers in the area have continued the theme of acreage living throughout their residential projects.

The fact that no more new acreage subdivisions are allowed for Ormeau has added value to existing properties and meant that land being resold is generally not on the market for very long. Jacobs Ridge is a relatively new estate located to the east of the Pacific Motorway, offering a semi-rural location and views across farmland.

Winding walkways, bicycle trails and a feature park that includes a multi-purpose sports course are a feature of Jacobs Ridge. Meanwhile, Ormeau Hills is a master planned community which offers more than a standard size block in the middle of suburbia. With wide tree-lined streets, this residential development has a backdrop of parkland, bushland and rolling hills with panoramic views in all directions, including to Stradbroke Island.

Situated directly south of Ormeau, Ormeau Hills is an upmarket area offering acreage plots of land in the picturesque Gold Coast Hinterland. The suburb borders Kingsholme, Cedar Creek and Yatala and runs north into Ormeau. House and land packages and acreage sites in this area have been popular since the mid-ninety's when the Gold Coast hinterland became the desirable place first and second home buyers as well as those seeking a scenic holiday retreat.

Established Ormeau homes on large blocks surround the local shopping village and are made primarily of brick and tile. The shopping village, the Ormeau Centre, has the essential shops - grocery store, chemist, post office, etc. - but more elaborate retail facilities are outside the suburb. The only school in the suburb is the non-mainstream Toogoolawa School, but there are numerous schools in surrounding suburbs such as Coomera and Oxenford.
